Anti-Dumping Petition
The United States’ largest manufacturer of steel threaded rod filed an anti-dumping case against imports of Chinese threaded rod in March of 2008. The petition requested that the U.S Department of Commerce investigate the Chinese imports, which captured nearly two-thirds of the U.S market- an incredible three times the volume of previous years, and at prices below U.S. raw material costs. Commerce did investigate and determined the prices were unfair and imposed a duty of between 35 to 206 percent, depending upon the product. This should level the playing field and give domestic manufacturers a fair chance of retaining their share of the market.
